Reading the ratio
The reward-to-risk ratio compares how far your target sits from entry against how far your stop sits from entry. A result of 3 : 1 means you stand to make three times what you'd lose if stopped out. Many traders look for at least 2 : 1 so they can be right less than half the time and still come out ahead.
Add a position size to convert the distances into actual risk and reward in dollars, handy for sizing against a fixed percentage of your account.
